Financial Education for Young People

As a Partner Practice of St. James's Place, we have the resources to be able to support Financial Education in Schools and within the local community across the South East of England and London.

Here at Adams & Bowles Wealth Management we are passionate about delivering Financial Education to young people. It’s important to us that everyone has access to financial advice, guidance, and education and for this to be easily accessible to everyone. Financial Wellbeing is a cornerstone of us being a responsible business, and Financial Education is a building block to reach this.

Financial Education is an important life skill and will provide young people with the necessary skills to feel confident when it comes to money.

We will support schools and the local community with our complementary workshops where we will teach young people about the importance of managing money. Our workshops are fun, interactive and designed to get young people engaged and thinking for the future.

How we support Primary School children with Financial Education:

Key stage 1 – 5-7 years old

Our key stage 1 workshop is a fun and interactive booking reading session. The session is around 45 minutes and will get children engaged through a fun story telling session. its about how the bears had to help the monkeys because they wasted all of their banana’s, and it’s a grandpa squirrel reading the story to his grand squirrels.  Children are introduced into having a better understanding of budgeting, saving, investing and if you work hard for something you shouldn’t waste it. At the end of the session children will get the opportunity to watch a video of the story and take part in a fun colouring activity.

Key stage 2 – 10-11 years old

Our key stage 2 workshop is our Money Matters games session. The workshop is around 3 hours long and it is highly interactive, high energy, as children compete with each other to learn key skills such as saving, budgeting, managing and spending.

How we support Secondary School children with Financial Education:

Secondary School

For the 13-14 year olds, and the 16 -18 year olds who are about to leave school and possibly live away from home, we offer 14 modules covering 7 key topics. Students can ‘pick and mix’ from modules including budgeting, borrowing and day to day banking. We bring real life scenarios into the classroom.

Support for Teachers & Parents

As well as offering Financial Education to young people we also provide Financial Wellbeing Workshops to teachers, parents and carers to help support them with a better understanding of Financial Education.

Case Study

Stacey Owen our Financial Education Specialist has been supporting many primary and secondary schools in delivering Financial Education.

Stacey visited a Primary School in Ramsgate this year to deliver a range of workshops to children in years 1 and 2. The children learnt about the importance of saving money and how every little amount really does help. This involved listening to a story called ‘Save Your Acorns’ which indirectly taught the children about the importance of saving for the unexpected and how to make money ‘grow’.

Stacey Owen from Adams & Bowles says “Providing Financial Education to the community is something I’m very passionate about, I feel very privileged that the work I’m doing is having a positive impact on young people, if we can change one life we have changed the world forever”

Head Teacher Tracey Sandy said: “These are all important skills in life to learn and our children are never too young to start thinking about financial matters. The activities the children took part in allowed for lots of discussion about children’s understanding of ‘needs and wants’ which also links into other areas of our school curriculum.”
